Time for a Sake Break with Hiroshi! New Collaboration Sake Launches
Inspired by the world of the TV anime Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryougi (which can be translated as Hiroshi Nohara: The Way of the Lunch), the new Japanese sake pair “Kin no Hiroshi” (Golden Hiroshi) and “Gin no Hiroshi” (Silver Hiroshi) have begun additional set sales on the Gonda Shuzou online shop.
About the Anime: A Salaryman’s Lunchtime Sanctuary
The anime Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryougi is an official spin-off of the massively popular character manga Crayon Shin-chan. It focuses on the father, Nohara Hiroshi (35), and his precious moments of respite—lunchtime. The series depicts his relentless dedication to crafting the perfect lunch within the constraints of a limited allowance and time. It paints a picture of everyday life through the usually unseen “working man” expressions of Hiroshi during the day, the lunches he chooses, and the personal “ryougi” (principles/way) he holds dear.
Now, imagining the worldview of this anime, a new Japanese sake has been developed and released. It’s designed for modern Japan’s “samurai”—the corporate warriors (salarymen)—to enjoy deliciously after work or to casually savor with a lunchtime mood, bringing a smile to their faces.
Crafting the Perfect “Salaryman’s Cup”
The sake aims to be a taste worthy of a hard-working adult’s glass, born from a fusion of the story cultivated in Kumagaya, Saitama—the same prefecture as Kasukabe, the setting of Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryougi—and the reliable skill of Gonda Shuzou Kabushikigaisha, a company founded during the Kaei era (around 1850).
Meet “Kin no Hiroshi”: The Robust, Dry Classic
“Kin no Hiroshi” offers a comforting, powerful rice umami and a solid, dry backbone. It pursues a robust yet expressive flavor profile, inspired by the beloved dad everyone knows, “Nohara Hiroshi (age 35).” Finished as an impactful dry sake that will impress even seasoned sake lovers, it’s recommended not only for post-work drinks but also to enjoy with Hiroshi’s favorite Japanese dishes like “nikujaga” (meat and potato stew) or sashimi.
And “Gin no Hiroshi”: The Refreshing, Lime-Infused Twist
“Gin no Hiroshi” is a refreshing drink with lime juice that gently heals the day’s fatigue. Expanding on the concept from the modern salaryman, it pursues a crisp, clean drinkability different from the dry “Kin no Hiroshi.” Crafted with the image of a “Samurai Rock”—a Japanese-style liqueur made by adding lime juice to a sake base—it offers a sharp, refreshing taste that goes down smoothly. It’s easy to drink even for sake beginners and pairs perfectly with Hiroshi’s other great love, “karaage” (fried chicken).
Gift sets and sake vessels are also part of the lineup, making them perfect for gifts, little presents, or a reward for yourself.
