Great news for manga and anime enthusiasts! The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Nemuki magazine has announced that Ichiko Ima‘s beloved supernatural horror manga, Hyakki Yakoushou (also known as Beyond Twilight), is finally getting a television anime adaptation. Mark your calendars for April 2026, when the anime is set to premiere.
About the Manga
Hyakki Yakoushou has been a long-running series, first serialized in Nemuki magazine way back in 1995. After Nemuki ceased publication in December 2012, the manga found a new home in Nemuki+. The series has garnered a dedicated following over the years, with Asahi Shimbun Publications releasing the 31st volume in April 2024. Fans can look forward to the 32nd volume, which is scheduled to ship on April 7.
The manga’s excellence was recognized when it won the Excellence Award at the 10th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2006, cementing its status as a classic in the genre.
For English readers, there was a brief stint with Aurora Publishing licensing the manga and releasing the first volume in June 2010. Unfortunately, Aurora Publishing folded later that same year, leaving the series without further English releases.
