An Exciting New Episode is Here!
Get ready for the next step in the journey! Ahead of its broadcast this weekend, the synopsis and preview images have been released for score17 (Season 2, Episode 4), titled “下剋上” (which can be translated as “Overthrowing the Superior”), of the TV anime ‘Medarist’ (Medalist). The episode is set to begin airing on Saturday, February 14th, 2026.
What is ‘Medarist’?
Adapted from the popular figure skating manga by Tsurumaikada, serialized in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine, ‘Medarist’ has captured hearts everywhere. The original work won first place in the Comic category of the “Next Manga Awards 2022” and the Grand Prize in the “48th Kodansha Manga Awards,” among other accolades. Directed by Yamamoto Yositaka with animation by studio ENGI, the series features Harusame Natsumi as the voice of Yuina Inori and Ootsuka Takeo as Akira Roshi. The first season aired from January to March 2025, and it’s already been decided that the story will continue with the franchise’s first theatrical film in 2027, depicting events after the second season.
The story follows Yuina Inori and Akira Roshi, two individuals with a powerful dream for figure skating who meet as “athlete and coach.” Aiming for the glory of becoming a “medalist,” Inori builds her record at the Meikou Cup and the West Japan Elementary and Middle School Championships. After passing her badge tests, she finally earns the right to compete at the same rank as the “prodigy,” Koorizaki Hikari. Her next goal is the Chubu Block Tournament, which determines qualification for the All-Japan Championships. Amidst new rivals, Inori is out to prove she can shine the brightest!
