Manga “Kanojo no Tomodachi” to Premiere as TV Anime in 2026

Fans of erotic drama manga have something to look forward to: Kanojo no Tomodachi (also known as My Girlfriend’s Friend) is officially getting a television anime adaptation. The announcement came on Wednesday via WWWaveCorporation‘s Deregula animation label, accompanied by a commemorative illustration drawn by the original creator, Jyura. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2026.

Jyura began serializing this tense romantic thriller on Young Magazine Web in May 2021. Kodansha has already released six compiled volumes, with the latest hitting shelves in October 2025. The manga’s mix of psychological suspense and sensual drama has steadily built a dedicated readership, making the anime adaptation a highly anticipated move.

Story Overview

At the center of the story is Hidaka Takeru, an ambitious high school student with his sights set on medical school. He’s just started dating his first girlfriend, Koga Kaori, and from the outside, their relationship looks picture-perfect. But that fragile peace shatters when Kaori’s best friend, Yoshioka Tomoko, begins to openly flirt with and seduce Takeru.

Torn between loyalty to his girlfriend and the intoxicating pull of Tomoko’s advances, Takeru falls into a double life—and a messy affair. He now has to navigate a web of lies that threatens not only his academic future but also his most important emotional bonds. The constant fear of exposure hangs over him, making every move a gamble.

Production Details & Staff

While specific staff and voice actors haven’t been announced yet, the anime is being produced under the Deregula label, which is part of WWWaveCorporation. Keep an eye on the official X (formerly Twitter) account for updates: @kanotomo_anime_.
