“Panda Kopanda” is a mid-length anime film released in December 1972, when two pandas, “Lanlan” and “Kankan,” came to Ueno Zoo in Tokyo from China, sparking a panda boom across Japan. It depicts the story of a girl named “Mimiko” who lives in a wonderful small house like a castle in the suburbs of Tokyo, and one day a panda parent and child, “Panda Kopanda,” join her family.
The series, including the second film “Panda Kopanda: Rainy Day Circus” released in March of the following year, is known for being produced by young director Isao Takahata, director Hayao Miyazaki, and other leading Japanese animation creators such as Yasuo Otsuka of “Lupin III” and Yoichi Kotabe of “Heidi, Girl of the Alps.”
This series features a wide variety of items designed with the adorable parent-child pandas and memorable scenes.
Items include pins featuring Papanda and Tora-chan, reflector keyholders that sparkle when light hits them, and A5-size notebooks.
Furthermore, ballpoint pens with soft pastel colors and cute illustrations of Pan-chan and Papanda, a Jetstream multi-pen with four colors and a mechanical pencil function, and a convenient eco-bag are also available. The eco-bag can be folded into a cute design.
In addition, TV-shaped magnets (9 types) that look like scenes from “Panda Kopanda” are playing on a TV, and sticker sets are also available.
The deadline for pre-orders is May 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Don’t forget to place your order.
