New Ghibli Cookbook Brings Ponyo’s Kitchen to Life
The sixth volume in the “Kodomo Ryōri Ehon Ghibli no Shokutaku” series, focusing on Studio Ghibli’s Gake no Ue no Ponyo, is set to release on July 10, 2026. Ahead of its launch, recipe pages for “Lisa’s Quick Sandwich” and “Sea Creature Wieners” have been unveiled for the first time.
Pre-orders for the book began in May and quickly generated buzz, with reservations pouring in. The cookbook is designed to let children and families recreate dishes from the film using everyday ingredients, with step-by-step instructions tailored for beginners. Difficulty level markers help young cooks start with simpler recipes.

“Lisa’s Quick Sandwich” is inspired by the one-handed sandwich Lisa eats for breakfast in the car during the film. The book also includes recipes for the sandwich Sosuke shares with Ponyo, the honey hot milk that warms them up, and Lisa’s special ham-and-egg ramen, all presented with easy-to-follow cooking processes.
