The World of Haikyuu!!
Based on the sports manga by Furudate Haruichi, Haikyuu!! ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2012 for eight and a half years. The manga has sold over 75 million copies worldwide. The anime adaptation began in 2014, with four seasons released through December 2020, captivating fans both in Japan and abroad.
The 2024 theatrical film Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle (Gomi Suteba no Kessen) depicted the long-awaited clash between Karasuno and Nekoma and earned over 20 billion yen at the global box office. It also won the Japan Academy Prize for Best Animation. Looking ahead, two new projects are set for 2027: the film Haikyuu!! VS Chiisana Kyojin, covering the quarterfinal matches between Karasuno and Kamomedai and between Fukurodani and Mujinazaka, and the special anime Haikyuu!! Bakemonotachi no Iku Tokoro.
