VTuber group Nijisanji’s popular unit ROF-MAO has announced that member Kengami Touya will be “completing” his activities within the unit, effective May 28, 2026. Simultaneously, the unit itself will enter a period of inactivity.
ROF-MAO consists of Kengami Touya, Kagami Hayato, Kaida Haru, and Fuwa Minato. On May 26, the unit’s official X account posted a statement reading, in part: “As of May 28, 2026, Kengami Touya will complete his unit activities as ROF-MAO, and at the same time, ROF-MAO activities will go into a rest period.”
Kengami Touya himself also posted, writing: “This is a report: I, Kengami Touya, will complete my unit activities as ROF-MAO on May 28. I’m sorry for the sudden news. These four and a half years have truly been the best time!!! Please let me talk about the details on my stream starting at midnight tonight! I will still interact with the members endlessly, so prepare yourselves!!”
The sudden news sent shockwaves through the fan community. Comments on social media included “Wait, wait, wait? This is actually a prank, right??”, “Can’t stop crying – I haven’t even seen them live yet”, “The word ‘complete’… I guess Touya-san has become a cool adult ahead of the others”, and “I seriously can’t believe it. I keep thinking this is some kind of ROF-MAO project.”
Fellow members also shared their thoughts. Kaida Haru wrote: “I’m sorry to surprise everyone with this sudden announcement! I know you have many things to think about and ask, but the one thing I want to convey is that what the four of us built together truly exists, and that includes everyone who walked with us! We’ll have our final stream as a foursome on the 28th, so please join us!”
Kagami Hayato added: “I sincerely apologize for this sudden report. I recognize that this is a shocking event for many. However, we arrived at this conclusion without breaking the word ‘amiable’ that once stood between jokes and promises. I believe this proves that Kengami-san has fulfilled the conditions of being a cool adult. As he himself said, the four of us will continue to interact as before, laughing together, and only the ‘ROF-MAO’ label will be removed – things will go on. All eyes are now on the ROF-MAO stream scheduled for May 28, where the members themselves will address the announcement directly.
