The hit dark fantasy anime Dorohedoro will continue its chaotic journey. Production of Dorohedoro Season 3 has been officially announced following the finale of Dorohedoro Season 2. Director Hayashi Yuuichirou marked the occasion with a special illustration, and the opening theme music video for the series was released.
Based on the manga by Hayashida Q, which ran in Shogakukan’s Gessan from 2000 for 18 years, Dorohedoro follows Kaiman, a man whose head has been transformed into a lizard by a sorcerer’s spell. Suffering from amnesia, he and his partner Nikaidou hunt for the sorcerer responsible, diving into a violent and surreal world of magic, gore, and mystery. Long considered impossible to adapt, the series finally received a TV anime in 2020, and Season 2 began streaming on April 1 this year.
The announcement of Season 3 came on May 27, coinciding with the final episode (episode 11) of Season 2. The season ended on a major cliffhanger, leaving viewers desperate for more.
To celebrate the finale and the sequel announcement, director Hayashi provided an illustration depicting Haru—a demon—singing about her impatience for the next chapter. Additionally, (K)NoW_NAME’s opening theme song “Zettai MUST Danmen” received an anime music video. The MV blends footage from both Season 1 and Season 2, packed with the series’ trademark mayhem. The lyrics are said to contain hidden clues about the story, inviting fans to rewatch carefully.
