Believe in yourself who believes in you! The movie versions of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann are coming to BS12 Twelvi’s “Sunday Anime Theater” in a two-week special broadcast this June. Gekijouban Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Guren-hen (Red Chapter) will air on June 7, followed by Gekijouban Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Ragan-hen (Crimson Chapter) on June 14. Both broadcasts will use the Blu-ray masters for pristine picture quality.
The original Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann TV series aired from April to September 2007. Directed by Imaishi Hiroyuki with scripts by Nakashima Kazuki, and animation production by GAINAX, it tells the story of Simon, a timid boy living underground, who meets his older-brother figure Kamina and other comrades. Together they pilot the giant mecha Gurren Lagann, expanding their journey from the subterranean depths to the surface and ultimately into space, as Simon grows into a leader.
The two theatrical films are a reconstructed and evolved final form of the TV series. Every line of dialogue was re-recorded, and numerous new cuts were added. The first part, Guren-hen, covers the battle to reclaim the surface world, while Ragan-hen depicts the final decisive battle for humanity’s future. This is a perfect chance to experience the beginning and the end of one man’s destiny, presented in stunning visuals.

Both films will air on BS12 Twelvi’s “Sunday Anime Theater” every Sunday at 7:00 PM (JST). Mark your calendars for June 7 (Guren-hen) and June 14 (Ragan-hen). Check the official program page for updates.
