A new jigsaw puzzle featuring an ukiyo-e style illustration of Godzilla and Anguirus battling at Osaka Castle is set to go on sale nationwide in mid-June 2026. The 500-piece puzzle, titled “Great Beasts Clash at Osaka Castle” (巨獣激突大阪城乃図), will be available at hobby shops, electronics retailers, and the official online store.

Decades of Godzilla Domination
The King of the Monsters first appeared in 1954 and has captivated audiences in Japan and around the world for over 70 years. The 2023 film Godzilla Minus One was a massive hit both domestically and globally, earning the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards. Hollywood’s fifth installment, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, surpassed 84.5 billion yen worldwide at the box office. The momentum continues with director Yamazaki Takashi’s latest film Godzilla-0.0 set for release on November 3, 2026, reaffirming Godzilla’s status as the ultimate monster king.

Ukiyo-E Meets Kaiju
This puzzle takes its inspiration from the 1955 film Godzilla Raids Again (released April 24, 1955), which pitted Godzilla against his first on-screen rival, Anguirus, in a fierce battle around Osaka Castle. The newly commissioned illustration blends the dynamic, powerful poses of the rampaging monsters with the delicate, detailed depiction of Osaka Castle in a traditional Japanese ukiyo-e style.

The contrast between the vivid monster designs and the intricate castle architecture creates a striking visual. Assembling the 500-piece puzzle allows fans to immerse themselves in the overwhelming world and narrative of the clash. Once completed, the 38 cm × 53 cm puzzle serves as a unique decorative piece for any interior.
