Publishing company Shufu to Seikatsusha announced on Wednesday that a television anime adaptation is in the works for Kashiro Meyuki‘s manga E, Shanai System Subete Wanope Shiteiru Watashi wo Kaiko desu ka? (also known as Fired? But I Maintain All the Software!).
Background
Kashiro originally began writing the story on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in November 2020, later continuing it on Kakuyomu. Shufu no Seikatsusha published the first volume under its Pash! Books label with illustrations by icchi in May 2021, and the fourth volume was released in March 2025.
A manga adaptation drawn by Io started serialization in Comic PASH! in August 2022. The fourth volume of that adaptation shipped last May, and the fifth volume goes on sale on Friday—featuring the anime announcement on its cover.
English Release
J-Novel Club licensed the manga adaptation in English in August 2025 and published the third volume on April 26. The fourth volume is scheduled for a September 19 release.
Synopsis
Satou Ai is the sole engineer maintaining her company’s internal systems. Unfortunately, being the indispensable linchpin doesn’t protect her from sudden layoffs—the new CEO apparently disapproves of cosplaying at work.
Depressed and jobless, Ai unexpectedly reunites with her childhood friend Suzuki Kenta, who offers her a position at his startup, True Coding School. The school provides personalized lessons to people struggling under the stress of modern society. With every passionate—and sometimes unconventional—lecture, Ai finds herself giving her students a renewed sense of purpose. Who knew that coding lessons could change so many lives?
