A Look Back at the Anime’s Success
Girls Band Cry is an original anime produced by Toei Animation that aired from April to June 2024. The story follows protagonist Iseri Nina, who drops out of high school and moves to Tokyo, where she forms the band Togenashi Togeari together with Kawaragi Momoka, Awa Subaru, Ebizuka Tomo, and Rupa. The series gained explosive popularity, trending at No. 1 on X (formerly Twitter) for seven consecutive weeks from Episode 7 through the finale. The Blu-ray & DVD Vol. 1 surpassed 23,000 cumulative shipments. Upcoming compilation films include Girls Band Cry Compilation Film [Part 1] Youth Crazy Run on October 3 and Girls Band Cry Compilation Film [Part 2] Hey, Future. on November 14.
