The official website for the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School) anime series announced on Friday that a second part is now in production, accompanied by a teaser visual.
Madhouse produced the first anime season, which adapted Tsutomu Satou’s action sci-fi light novel. That season debuted in Spring 2014 with 26 episodes. The franchise later saw the Hoshi wo Yobu Shoujo (The Girl Who Summons The Stars) film, produced by 8bit, which opened in Japan in June 2017.
The Raihousha-hen (Visitor Arc) television anime aired in Fall 2020, followed by the Tsuioku-hen (Reminiscence Arc) prequel special in December 2021.
The third season premiered in Spring 2024 with 13 episodes, and the Yotsuba Keishou-hen (Yotsuba Succession Arc) sequel movie followed on May 8.
A television anime adaptation of Satou and Yu Mori’s Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei (The Honor at Magic High School) spin-off manga, produced by Connect, aired in Summer 2021.
Satou originally published the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2008. Kadokawa began releasing the title under its Dengeki Bunko label with illustrations by Kana Ishida in July 2011, and the 32nd and final volume was published in September 2020.
Satou launched the Magian Company sequel light novel the following month. Kadokawa shipped the 11th volume on March 10. The Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei series has a cumulative 30 million copies of its volumes in print.
Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in 2015 and published the 26th volume on February 10.
