McDonald’s Japan is teaming up with Nintendo and Illumination for a new Happy Set promotion inspired by The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Starting June 12, 2026, the fast-food chain will offer a lineup of 12 collectible toys and a special activity book titled “Mario’s Great Adventure” (Mario no Daibōken) for a limited time of about four weeks at most locations nationwide.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the second animated film set in the world of Super Mario, following the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which earned over US$1.3 billion (roughly ¥200 billion) worldwide. In this sequel, Mario and Luigi work as twin plumbers in the Mushroom Kingdom, helping Princess Peach, caring for a captured Bowser, and solving everyone’s problems. One day they meet a new ally, Yoshi, and when Bowser Jr. hatches an evil scheme, the brothers embark on a space adventure to protect Rosalina.
Happy Set Toys: 12 Figurines from the Movie
The Happy Set “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” includes a full set of 12 three-dimensional figurines featuring Mario, Yoshi, Toad (Kinopio), Princess Peach, and more. The toys are designed to be displayed as collectibles or attached to bags as accessories, letting fans bring a piece of the movie into everyday life.
Special Book: “Mario’s Great Adventure”
Alongside the toys, McDonald’s will sell the special book “Mario’s Great Adventure” as part of its “Book Happy Set.” The book introduces the new movie, retells the story of Mario and Luigi’s growth from the first film, and includes fun activities such as mazes and picture searches. A QR code on the toy box and inside the book unlocks digital content featuring Super Mario characters and elements from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
