Sanrio Characters is giving printed photos a retro-kawaii home with a new capsule toy line. The “Sanrio Characters Retro Kawaii! Photo Case” is designed to hold ID-style photos and mini photos, and it will be released sequentially from October 21, 2026.
2026 Sanrio Character Ranking draws record 70 million votes
The product arrives in a big year for Sanrio’s characters. The 2026 Sanrio Character Ranking recorded 70,647,379 votes, 112% of the previous year’s total and a record high. Pompompurin took first place during its 30th anniversary year, collecting more than 7 million votes and winning for the second consecutive year and fifth time overall.
Cinnamoroll, who led the first preliminary standings, finished second. Pochacco came third, followed by Kuromi in fourth and Hello Kitty in fifth. The results reflect continued support for characters loved by fans around the world.
Foldable case holds photos and coins
When opened, the case features a clear pocket for ID photos and mini photos, plus a small buttoned coin pocket that can hold several coins. It folds down to a compact size and comes with a ball chain, so it can be attached to a bag, pouch, or key for carrying around. It should be handy for taking favorite-character photos out on the town.
Six character designs
The lineup includes six types: Hello Kitty, Pochacco, Cinnamoroll, My Melody, Kero Kero Keroppi, and Cheery Chums.
The cases will be available at Molly Fantasy, Molly Fantasy f, PALO, TOYS SPOT PALO, Capsule Yokocho, and Feedy Arcade. Sales will end when stock runs out.
The “Sanrio Characters Retro Kawaii! Photo Case” will be rolled out sequentially from October 21, 2026. Each case is priced at 704 yen, tax included.
