TV Anime ‘Akane-banashi’ Exhibition Opens July 2026 at HMV Museum Shibuya

A special exhibition dedicated to the TV anime adaptation of the popular manga Akane-banashi has been announced. The event, titled “TV Anime ‘Akane-banashi’ Exhibition,” will be held at HMV museum Shibuya 6 in Tokyo from July 11 to August 9, 2026. Tickets went on sale on June 7.

Akane-banashi is a manga series written by Suehiro Yuki and illustrated by Baba Takamasa, currently serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump. Taking the traditional performing art of rakugo as its central theme, the series has captivated readers with its intense human drama and powerful storytelling, overturning the notion that rakugo is difficult and quiet. The anime adaptation, directed by Watanbe Ayumu and produced by studio Zexcs, began airing in April 2026 and has further raised the profile of the work.

The exhibition promises an immersive experience that lets visitors fully appreciate the world of the anime. Displays will feature iconic scenes and memorable performances from the series, special exhibits exploring the characters’ journeys and relationships, and original materials created exclusively for the event. Newly drawn illustrations have been produced for the exhibition, and original goods featuring these illustrations will be on sale at the venue.

Ticket prices are 1,300 yen in advance and 1,500 yen at the door, with an original bookmark included for all attendees. Preschool children are admitted free of charge. On Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, a designated time slot system will be in effect. Tickets are available via Lawson Ticket (L codes 30483 and 30484) and TV Asahi Ticket.
