The ice skating spectacle Touken Ranbu – ICE BLADE – has revealed its sixth character visual, featuring Yamatonokami Yasusada in a brand-new illustration created specifically for the event. The show is set to take place at Yoyogi National Gymnasium First Gymnasium in Tokyo on October 3 and 4, 2026.
Based on the popular browser and smartphone game Touken Ranbu ONLINE (developed by DMM GAMES with world-building and character design by Nitroplus), the franchise has expanded into musicals, stage plays, anime series, kabuki, and a music live project. Now, it takes on the challenge of “overwhelming speed” and “physical expression on ice,” as the Touken Danshi (sword warriors) race across the silver rink.
The game itself launched its PC browser version in 2015 and a smartphone app in 2016. As of May 2026, it has surpassed 15 million cumulative users.
Yamatonokami Yasusada: Gentle Smile, Blade-Sharp Edge
The newly released “Yamatonokami Yasusada Image on Ice ver.” is a special illustration drawn by the original Touken Ranbu ONLINE staff for this production. Yamatonokami Yasusada is a uchigatana (slung sword) said to have been forged by the swordsmith Yasusada of Kii Province. He is well known as the beloved sword of Shinsengumi First Unit Captain Okita Souji, alongside Kashuu Kiyomitsu. The blade is notoriously difficult to wield and chooses its user carefully, boasting both sharp cutting power and a dignified beauty.
Yasusada carries a single-minded desire for a master who will love him, combined with a fierceness that transforms on the battlefield. The illustration captures the moment when his gentle smile and blade-like sharpness merge—a duality now expressed on the new stage of the ice rink.
This visual is an image illustration; the actual performance costumes will be more specialized for skating.
