The manga Dandadan, serialized in Shonen Jump+, has reached its 5th anniversary. To mark the occasion, a celebratory illustration by Fujimoto Tatsuki, creator of Chainsaw Man, has been released.
Dandadan is an occult battle and青春 manga by Ryuu Yukinobu. It follows high school girl Momo (Ayase Momo), born into a family of spirit mediums, and her occult-obsessed classmate Okarun (Takakura Ken), who gain hidden powers and curses after encountering overwhelming supernatural phenomena. The first TV anime season aired in October 2024, the second in July 2025, and a third season has already been greenlit.
Fujimoto, who previously worked as Ryuu’s assistant, drew the anniversary illustration. Ryuu commented: “Thank you for the celebratory illustration, Fujimoto-kun! I don’t often get a chance to have you draw something like this, so I’m really happy! You can draw more, you know! Hurry up and start your next work! Also, you’ve become Fujimoto Tariki! You forgot the dot on ‘tsu’!”
Fans on X reacted to Fujimoto’s illustration of Okarun with comments like “Okarun looks cool!” and “It really is Tariki lol” and “Fujimoto Tatsuki-sensei’s Okarun is so stylish!”
Additionally, the 5th anniversary special site features illustrations from other creators, including Kaku Yuuji (Jigokuraku) and Man☆Gatarou (Chin Yuuki -Taro to Yukai na Nakama-tachi-), as well as comments from Dandadan anime staff such as Wakayama Shion and Hanae Natsuki.
With a stage play of Dandadan scheduled to begin in August and the third anime season set for 2027, the series shows no signs of slowing down.
