The upcoming anime film SEKIRO: NO DEFEAT, based on FromSoftware’s acclaimed game SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE, has released its theatrical trailer along with an introduction and story synopsis. The film is set for a limited three-week theatrical run across Japan starting September 4, 2026.

Advance tickets (Mubichike cards) went on sale June 26, both at theater box offices and via online retailers, with a bonus three-layer clear file featuring the key visual.

Story
Set in the Sengoku period, the story follows a wolf—a master shinobi raised on the battlefield of Ashina—who serves a young lord named Kuro. Kuro is the last descendant of a special bloodline called the “Dragon’s Heritage,” which grants immortality. As they flee from Ashina samurai who seek the power of the Dragon’s Heritage, they discover that the immortality comes at a cost: a deadly disease called Dragonrot that afflicts the people. Seeking a way to stop the disease, Kuro learns that his own life must be sacrificed. After much anguish, he resolves to sever the Dragon’s Heritage. The wolf, learning of Kuro’s hidden determination, sets out alone on a perilous journey to change his master’s fate.
