The production of a second season for the TV anime Tongari Boushi no Atelier (Witch Hat Atelier) has been officially announced. To celebrate, original author Shirahama Kamome has drawn a new end card featuring Coco and the atelier members, and both Shirahama and director Watanabe Ayumu have provided comments.

The original manga, written and illustrated by Shirahama Kamome, has been serialized in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine since 2016. As of now, 16 volumes have been released in Japan, and the series has surpassed 9 million copies in circulation worldwide. It has won multiple manga awards in France, Spain, South Korea, and other countries, and in 2020 it received the Eisner Award for Best Asian Work.
Animation production for the series is handled by BUG FILMS, known for popular titles such as Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead and Summer Time Rendering. The first season of the TV anime aired and streamed to positive reception. The final episode (episode 13) aired on June 29, 2026, and immediately after its broadcast, the second season was announced.

Alongside the announcement, a newly drawn end card by Shirahama Kamome depicting Coco and the atelier members was revealed. Additionally, comments from the author and director were released.
Shirahama Kamome commented: “Congratulations on the production of the second season of the anime. And thank you. The magic show by the wonderful production team is, happily, not over yet, and they seem to be showing us the continuation with the highest quality! Viewers may have been surprised, thinking ‘Eh! It continues here!?’ but as the original author, I want to give my seal of approval that it is worth the wait! Let us wait together with anticipation for the crystallization of the dedication and passion created by many magicians!”
Director Watanabe Ayumu said: “Thank you for watching the 1st season! The magic that Coco and the others weave by creating each stroke. We too have carefully built up each episode and stayed close to the story. And that will continue. The story becomes bigger, deeper, and speaks to Coco and the others about learning and discovery in magic. New locations that appear. Characters that Coco and the others meet. The many spells that deepen in meaning as they learn about the world…! We will put even more heart into it and draw it with excitement for the adventure. Please look forward to it!”
