The beloved youth webtoon Here U Are, which has captivated readers worldwide with its delicate storytelling and deeply human characters, is officially being adapted into a TV anime.

The original webtoon has amassed over 390 million cumulative global views as of April 2026. It follows the story of Yu Yang, a popular university senior who gets along with everyone, and Li Fan, a taciturn and unfriendly freshman. Their first impression is the worst, but through clashes and resistance, they gradually find themselves drawn to each other.

Along with the release of a teaser visual and teaser PV, the main character designs, cast, and key staff have been revealed. The beloved senior Yu Yang will be voiced by Inoue Yuki, while the quiet and cool freshman Li Fan will be played by Suzuki Ryota.

Comments from the cast and staff, as well as a commemorative illustration from original author D-kun, have also been shared.

Comment from Inoue Yuki (Yu Yang)

“I am Inoue Yuki, and I will be voicing Yu Yang. It was incredibly difficult to decide what to say in this comment, but I spent my days earnestly facing the story so that I could convey Yu Yang’s feelings. In everyday life, there are things visible on the surface and things moving inside. There are realities we want to turn away from and pasts we want to forget. This is a story about college students who, while carrying various burdens, struggle and worry as they live their daily lives. I poured all the emotions and feelings that welled up inside me into my performance. I would be happy if something reaches you through this story.”

Yu Yang

A second-year student in the Design Department at Kato University. Sociable and personable, he has a wide circle of friends among both seniors and juniors. Due to past experiences, he avoids letting others into his inner world.

Comment from Suzuki Ryota (Li Fan)

“I am Suzuki Ryota, and I will be voicing Li Fan. This work, which delicately portrays the characters’ forms and relationships, feels to me like a story where gentle time flows yet possesses the power to move the heart. I want to carefully portray the purity of the quiet and cool Li Fan, and the strong feelings and drive that arise from that purity. Please also pay attention to the beautiful visuals and music. Thank you!”

Li Fan

A first-year student in the Design Department at Kato University. Because he is quiet and expressionless, he has often been misunderstood by those around him since childhood. His encounter with Yu Yang brings about a change in his heart.

Comment from Director Makino Tomoe

“Reading the original work made me think: just because the person you fell in love with is the same gender, why does life become so difficult? I hope that the words and actions Yu Yang agonizes over and then speaks will remain in someone’s heart and become a trigger for them to think, even just a little, like it did for me.”

Comment from Series Composition Kawamura Aiki

“When I read this work, I felt it was a story where you can feel ‘the connection of hearts.’ It reminded me that things you couldn’t do alone can change when someone with whom your heart is connected gives you trust and a sense of security, turning into the courage to take a step forward. I think this is a warm story about finding such a presence. I am honored to be involved as a scriptwriter in this heartwarming Here U Are. I hope everyone enjoys it.”

Comment from Character Designer Hayakawa Asami

“I am very happy to be able to deliver to everyone, through this work, the ordinary daily life of one person loving another. I have many shortcomings, but I will do my best together with everyone involved. Thank you for your support.”

Comment from Music Composer Kiyozuka Shinya

“I tried to express the charming and expressive characters of Here U Are through various tones and genres. Please enjoy the performances by top-class musicians and the Asian sense of ‘heartache.’ And of course, the sound of the piano!”

Commemorative Illustration and Comment from Original Author D-kun

“I never imagined it would be adapted into an anime, so when I heard the news, I was truly excited—I thought, ‘Finally, this day has come!’ I am so happy to see the characters moving and speaking! I hope the readers will enjoy it too.”
