The summer anime Tenmaku no Jaadugaaru is set to premiere on July 4, 2026, with a special one-hour broadcast featuring the first two episodes back-to-back. Along with the announcement, the first story synopsis and advance scene cuts have been released.
Based on the historical manga by Tomato Soup serialized in Akita Shoten’s Souffle, Tenmaku no Jaadugaaru is a harem tale set in 13th-century Mongolia. The story follows Shitara (Fatima), a former slave girl taken prisoner by the Mongol Empire, who meets Doregene, the sixth wife of the Mongol emperor. Together, they use their wits to shake the foundations of the empire.
The series is directed by Abel Gongora, with general direction by Yamada Naoko. Animation production is handled by Science SARU, known for their high-quality work on Dandadan, The Heike Story, and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!. The cast includes Sekine Akira as Shitara, Koshimizu Ami as Doregene, Kuwashima Houko as Fatima, Saito Jun as Muhammad, Shimono Hiro as Ogotai, Suzuki Ryota as Tolui, Irino Miyu as Shira, Namikawa Daisuke as Chagatai, and Nojima Kenji as Jochi.
First Episode Synopsis
Act 1 (Episode 1): “Things in Heaven, Things on Earth” (天にあるもの 地にあるもの)

In 1213, in the eastern Iranian city of Tus, a young girl named Shitara, who has lost her mother and been taken far from her homeland, is taken in by the kind wife of a scholar family, Fatima. At first, Shitara resists studying, wanting only to return home. But Fatima’s son Muhammad, who aspires to be a scholar, teaches her the value of learning: “If you become wise, no matter what trouble arises, you’ll know what to do.”
Shitara and her new family live quietly, accumulating knowledge. But their peaceful days are suddenly shattered. The rapidly expanding Mongol Empire, led by the fourth prince Tolui, approaches their land. Captured by Mongol forces and thrown into despair, Shitara is approached by a young boy named Shira, who serves as an interpreter for the Mongol army.
Broadcast Information
Tenmaku no Jaadugaaru premieres on July 4, 2026 (Saturday) at 11:00 p.m. on TV Asahi’s national network “IMAnimation” slot and BS Asahi, among others. The first broadcast is a two-episode one-hour special. Subsequent episodes will air every Saturday at 11:30 p.m.
