Tenmaku no Jaadougaru Mongolia Arc PV Released, New Cast Members Announced

TV anime Tenmaku no Jaadougaru has released a new promotional video marking the opening of its Mongolia arc, alongside a third wave of cast announcements.

Based on the historical manga by Tomato Soup serialized in Akita Shoten’s Souffle, Tenmaku no Jaadougaru is a harem tale set in 13th-century Mongolia. The story follows Shitara (Fatima), a former slave taken prisoner by the Mongol Empire, who meets Doregene, the sixth wife of the Mongol emperor. Together, they use their wits to shake the foundations of the empire.

The anime is helmed by chief director Yamada Naoko and director Abel Gongora, with animation production by Science SARU, known for Dandadan, The Heike Story, and Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!. The cast includes Sekine Akira as Shitara, Koshiba Ami as Doregene, Kuwashima Houko as Fatima, Saito Jun as Muhammad, Shimono Hiro as Ogotai, Suzuki Ryota as Tolui, Irino Miyu as Shira, Namikawa Daisuke as Chagatai, and Nojima Kenji as Jochi.

The newly released PV shows Shitara moving from Persia to Mongolia, where she encounters the emperor’s consorts and becomes embroiled in a web of political intrigue and ambition. The first glimpses of the consorts’ meaningful glances and expressions hint at the hidden agendas that will intersect with Shitara’s path, creating a tense atmosphere.

One figure who stands out in the video is Borakuchin. Who will voice this character? Future announcements will be closely watched.

New Cast Announcement

The third cast reveal introduces three new characters:

  • Sorukokutani (Tolui’s principal wife, a wise woman) voiced by Kuno Misaki
  • Moge (Ogotai’s fourth consort) voiced by Asai Ayaka
  • Kirugisutani (Ogotai’s third consort) voiced by Shintani Mayumi

Comments from the voice actors have also been released.

Sorukokutani (Kuno Misaki)

“For the first time in my voice acting career, I played a role with a husband and children. I was very, very happy. It was a dream of mine to play a role close to my own age, so I am full of gratitude to the production team for entrusting me with Sorukokutani. During recording, I received very careful direction, and it was a continuous process of discovery, reflection, and challenge—every session was so enjoyable. Please look forward to how Sorukokutani, who lives gracefully while upholding her beliefs as the beloved wife of Tolui and a mother, will interact with Shitara.”

Moge (Asai Ayaka)

“I am Asai Ayaka, and I will be playing Moge. When I read the original work, I was immediately drawn in by the contrast between Tomato Soup-sensei’s soft art style and the tense atmosphere that pervades the story. Each character lives earnestly with their own position and feelings, and the depiction is so careful that I couldn’t stop turning the pages. Moge, the character I play, is also one who lives true to herself in that world. I recorded while cherishing the unique atmosphere of the work and the charm of Moge. I hope you look forward to the broadcast.”

Kirugisutani (Shintani Mayumi)

“This is a story of the women who live in the shadows of history carved out by heroes. I find myself equally empathizing with the tearfully tender bonds and the spine-chilling betrayals. Perhaps that’s because, no matter how cleverly they maneuver through political schemes, what fundamentally drives these women is pure love and passion. Kirugisutani seems to be someone who can navigate situations skillfully, yet from a modern perspective, she has a rather harsh background. It was an exciting experience to feel, through the work, that there may have been women who lived tenaciously while being swallowed by the times and customs. The recording sessions were fun! Please look forward to it.”
