Kaguya, the main character from the original anime film Cho Kaguya Hime!, celebrated her birthday on July 12. To mark the occasion, voice actress Natsuyoshi Yuuko, who voices Kaguya, and the official X account of the project shared celebratory messages and illustrations, drawing an outpouring of love from fans.

About Cho Kaguya Hime!

Cho Kaguya Hime! is the first feature-length directorial work by animation creator Yamashita Seigo, known for directing opening sequences for hit series such as Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, Chainsaw Man, and Urusei Yatsura. The film is a “music animation project” featuring songs from a stellar lineup of Vocaloid producers including ryo (supercell), kz (livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot.

Yamashita’s signature style—highly aesthetic, emotionally resonant visuals paired with dynamic 3D camera work—brings to life the virtual space “Tsukuyomi,” where live stages and the bonds of girls connected through song are depicted with stunning quality.

Animation production is handled by Studio Colorido (known for Penguin Highway and A Whisker Away) in collaboration with Studio Chromato, led by Yamashita, marking the studio’s first project.

Birthday Celebration and Fan Reactions

On July 12, animation studio Studio Chromato posted an illustration of Kaguya struggling to squeeze out from inside a telephone pole, captioned: “Happy Birthday! Today, July 12, is Kaguya’s (CV: Natsuyoshi Yuuko) birthday! We bring you a newly drawn illustration from Studio Chromato!”

Natsuyoshi Yuuko reposted the image, commenting, “What a stunt! So cute! Happy birthday, Kaguya!” She also shared her own hand-drawn illustration on her personal X account, writing, “I humbly drew this! Happy birthday.” The drawing shows Kaguya smiling with double peace signs.

Natsuyoshi Yuuko also performed at “Animelo Summer Live (Anisama) 2026 ‘Messenger’” on Day 2, singing three songs from Cho Kaguya Hime!: “Watashi wa, Watashi no Koto ga Suki.”, “Shunkan, Symphony.”, and “Melt CPK! Remix.” She posted a photo of her outfit on X, saying, “Anisama, all’s well that ends well! Everyone, be free!!!!”
