Voice actress Ohtani Ikue has been cast in the fourth episode of the side story Drum – VIVANT THE ORIGIN STORY –, providing the voice for the phone of a young girl named Jammin.
VIVANT is a suspense drama that aired on TBS’s Sunday Theatre slot, starring Sakai Masato. Its first season ran in July 2023, and the second season is set to premiere on July 26, 2026, running for two consecutive cours.
The side story Drum – VIVANT THE ORIGIN STORY – is currently streaming on U-NEXT. It focuses on Drum, a character who has overcome crises alongside Detective Nozaki Mamoru (played by Abe Hiroshi) in the main series.
Episode 4, which streams on July 22 at 21:00, will feature Ohtani Ikue as the voice of Jammin’s phone. Ohtani is a renowned voice actress known for roles such as Pikachu in Pokémon, Tony Tony Chopper in ONE PIECE, and Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya in Detective Conan. This marks her return to a TBS drama about a year and a half after voicing Q-ta, the assistant to Dr. K (voiced by Ootsuka Akio), in the 2025 drama Madoka 26-sai, Kenshuui Yattemasu!.
Producer Iida Kazutaka commented on the casting: “We are very happy that Ohtani Ikue, one of Japan’s leading voice actors, accepted our offer. Ohtani will also voice Jammin in the main VIVANT series, so please look forward to that as well!” He also hinted at an exciting surprise in the final episode.
