Prisma☆Illya FINALE Announced as TV Series Finale for 2027, Staff and Cast Return

The long-running magical girl spin-off of the Fate franchise is finally reaching its conclusion. The TV anime adaptation of the Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya series has been officially titled Prisma☆Illya FINALE, and it is set to air in 2027. This will be the final chapter of the story, told as a television series rather than a theatrical film.

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya began as a manga by Hiroyama Hiroshi in Kadokawa’s Comp Ace magazine in September 2007, spinning off from the popular visual novel Fate/stay night by TYPE-MOON. The first TV anime season aired in 2013, and the series has since expanded with multiple sequels and a 2021 theatrical film, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya: Licht – The Nameless Girl. A sequel was previously announced, and now it has been confirmed that the story will conclude with a TV series titled Prisma☆Illya FINALE.

Staff and Cast Returning

Key staff members from the previous film are returning for the finale. Director Oonuma Shin will be at the helm, with Takahashi Ken serving as series director. Scripts are handled by Inoue Kenji and Mizuse Hazuki, while Hirata Kazuya returns as character designer. Animation production remains with SILVER LINK.

The main cast is also continuing their roles. Kadowaki Mai voices Illyasviel von Einzbern, Nazuka Kaori plays Miyu Edelfelt, and Saito Chiwa returns as Chloe von Einzbern. Morohoshi Sumire voices Pandora, Hanae Natsuki is Julian Ainsworth, and Koyasu Takehito reprises his role as Darius Ainsworth.

New Teaser Visual and Poster Campaign

To celebrate the announcement, a second teaser visual drawn by character designer Hirata Kazuya has been released. It depicts Illya and Miyu facing forward with wands in hand, while Chloe smiles gently beside them.

On the official Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya X (formerly Twitter) account, a poster giveaway campaign is underway. By following the account and reposting the designated post, five winners will be selected by lottery to receive a B2-sized poster featuring the new teaser visual. Entries are open until August 3.

Director’s Comment

Director Oonuma Shin shared a statement on behalf of the staff, explaining the decision to produce a TV series instead of a movie. He said:

“It’s been a while, everyone… so long that I feel I should say ‘long time no see.’ But I haven’t just been sitting around waiting. It’s a TV series! There was talk of doing a theatrical film, but in order to see the story through to the end, I asked to do it as a TV series, and they kindly agreed! (Thank you very much.) As the title suggests, this is the finale. We’ve secured enough runtime to fully express everything, so we are working hard to deliver the charm of the work without holding back. There are also parts of the original manga we want to expand upon, and we are doing our best under the supervision and cooperation of Hiroyama-sensei. Please look forward to it.”

Synopsis

After the fierce battle with the Ainsworth family, Illya and her friends reached the truth behind the nameless girl—Pandora. Julian seeks to open Pandora’s box (Pithos) to grant the girl salvation through death. Erica, wounded by eternal time, only wishes for an end. Illya insisted on her ideal of saving everyone and cut through that fate—or so it seemed. But Darius, having completed his conceptual replacement, takes over Julian and continues reaching for the Ainsworths’ long-cherished goal of ‘human salvation.’ The box is opened, and the overflowing calamity begins to swallow the world itself. ‘I finally understand. I know now that you and I can never see eye to eye.’ To sever the causality of a world ending, Illya, Miyu, and Chloe confront Darius. The final battle of the magical girls begins.

Prisma☆Illya FINALE is scheduled to air in 2027.
