Chibi Maruko-chan to Air Five Weeks of Spooky Summer Episodes in August 2026

The TV anime Chibi Maruko-chan will air a special series titled “Maruko no Yuusuzumi ~Choppiri Kowakute Fushigi na Sekai~” for five consecutive weeks from August 2 to August 30, 2026. This annual tradition brings a lineup of slightly scary and mysterious episodes perfect for the summer season.

Episode 1541 (August 2): “Hanawa-tei wa Obake Yashiki?” (Is the Hanawa Mansion a Haunted House?)
Maruko gets a flyer from Tama-chan about a haunted house at a department store. She is thrilled and wants to go, but no one seems willing to take her. What will happen?

Episode 1542 (August 9): “Maruko, Benkyou Suki na Youkai ni Au?” (Maruko Meets a Studying-Loving Monster?)
Maruko’s father Hiroshi tells her a story about a monster that loves studying. The monster supposedly lives in the toilet, and if you can’t answer its questions, you get dragged into the toilet world.

Episode 1543 (August 16): “Maruko, Nazo no Hon ni Obieru” (Maruko Frightened by a Mysterious Book)
At the library, Maruko finds a book titled “Kyofu no Yakata” (Mansion of Terror). As she starts reading, she strangely knows what will happen next. When she returns a few days later, a piece of paper is tucked inside the book…

Episode 1544 (August 23): “Norowareta Toranshiibaa” (The Cursed Walkie-Talkie)
Maruko finds a toy walkie-talkie that Tomozou bought for her. She and Tama-chan play with it in the park, then Fujiki joins them. Fujiki borrows it and plays spy games with Nagasawa, but something goes wrong.

Episode 1545 (August 30): “Onee-chan wa Chounouryokusha?” (Is Big Sister a Psychic?)
Maruko’s big sister finds a magazine with Hideki in it and gets excited. According to a horoscope, if you strongly wish, your feelings will reach the person you like. Maruko starts to wonder if her sister might actually be a psychic.

Fuji TV producer Takeeda Yoshinori commented on the project: “Through Maruko and friends’ ‘slightly scary experiences,’ we hope viewers will feel a thrill and excitement. We want everyone to enjoy a slightly mysterious time that might even cool down the hot summer (or maybe not?). Please look forward to the broadcasts starting next week!”
