A limited-time pop-up event for the TV anime The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) has been announced, featuring newly drawn illustrations of Maomao, Jinshi, Xiaolan, and Shisui, along with exclusive merchandise and a festival game. The event will run from July 31 to August 30, 2026, at Nagasaki Stadium City.
The Apothecary Diaries is a massively popular palace mystery entertainment series set in the imperial court’s rear palace. It follows Maomao, a young girl serving as a “poison taster,” as she solves various intricate cases. With over 45 million copies in circulation, the series has won fans of all ages thanks to Maomao’s spirited heroine appeal, its authentic mystery elements, and the human drama woven into an exotic world.
After the second season of the TV anime ended in July 2025, production of a third season and a theatrical film was announced. The third season is scheduled to air in two split cours starting October 2026, and the film is set for release in December of the same year.
Exclusive Goods and Purchase Bonus
At the event venue, a variety of original goods using the newly drawn illustrations of Maomao, Jinshi, Xiaolan, and Shisui will be sold. In addition to standard items such as acrylic stands, keyholders, and stickers, the lineup includes cute mini-character goods and apparel items like T-shirts.
For every purchase of 3,000 yen (tax included) or more, customers will receive one original postcard at random. The postcards come in eight types: normal illustrations and mini-character versions of Maomao, Jinshi, Xiaolan, and Shisui.
Festival Game: “Dedication to Lord Jinshi: Aphrodisiac Mixing Ceremony”
Visitors can also try a festival game titled “Dedication to Lord Jinshi: Aphrodisiac Mixing Ceremony,” where they take on the role of Maomao’s assistant and attempt to mix an aphrodisiac for Lord Jinshi. Each play costs 800 yen (tax included). Players spin a roulette and receive a prize based on the material of the space where it stops.
The prizes are a tote bag (grand prize), a mirror (first prize), and a fan (participation prize) — three luxurious items. There are no losing spins, so everyone is guaranteed to get an exclusive item.
Photo Spots
Two photo spots featuring the newly drawn illustrations will be set up at the venue. Visitors can take commemorative photos alongside Maomao, Jinshi, and the others.
