Bellmuse has announced the release of character-themed osechi (New Year’s food) sets featuring characters from San-X Universe, Moomin, and Snoopy. Pre-orders will begin on August 3, 2026, via the Bellmuse Net online store.
For 20 years, Bellmuse has been developing original osechi with the goal of being the go-to brand for character osechi. Each year, they refine their offerings to match changing New Year’s celebrations, including smaller portion sizes for intimate gatherings. Beyond taste, they pay careful attention to the world of each franchise, designing the tiered boxes and accessories to create a festive experience for all ages.
The 2027 lineup has now been revealed.
San-X Universe Osechi
The San-X Universe osechi brings together popular characters from the present day alongside beloved classics that have been cherished across generations. The set includes kid-friendly dishes such as jōyō manjū (sweet bean paste buns), cheese hamburger steak, and three-color dango, making the table lively and colorful.
A special drawstring bag that fits the tiered box perfectly and a puffy sticker are included. The bag can be reused as a lunch bag or for other daily purposes, allowing enjoyment throughout the year, not just at New Year’s.
Moomin Osechi
The Moomin osechi adopts an individual-serving style, a format that has grown in popularity recently as it allows each person to enjoy the meal at their own pace while sharing the same space. The set comes in two different box designs, reflecting the results of a survey conducted among members of the official Moomin fan club.
Additionally, the set includes two each of placemats, monaka (rice cracker) soup bowls, and soup cups, all in different designs. Simply arranging the boxes and accessories creates a New Year’s table fully coordinated in the world of Moomin.
Snoopy Osechi
The Snoopy osechi features a round tiered box in an elegant reddish-purple with glossy chrysanthemum patterns and designs of Snoopy and Woodstock. It is generously filled with ingredients such as squid in jelly dressing and dried persimmon butter.
This refined Japanese-style two-person osechi includes adorable nerikiri (sweet bean paste confections) of Snoopy and Charlie Brown to brighten the New Year’s table. A purple potato Mont Blanc dessert is also included for after the meal.
