Motoko Kusanagi, the iconic cyborg commander from the Ghost in the Shell franchise, is joining the S.H.Figuarts action figure lineup. Based on the latest TV anime series, this new figure captures her appearance and agile combat style, and pre-orders are now open at participating retailers.
Since its origins as Shirow Masamune’s manga in 1989, Ghost in the Shell has expanded into numerous animated films, TV series, Hollywood live-action adaptations, and video games. Its groundbreaking cyberpunk world—where information networks and cyborg technology are deeply integrated—has inspired creators and cultural movements around the globe.
The new TV anime, Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell, began airing in July. Produced by Science SARU, the studio known for its acclaimed work on Dan Da Dan, the series is directed by Moko-chan, marking their directorial debut after serving as sub-director on several Science SARU projects. The cast includes Sakamoto Maaya as Motoko Kusanagi, Yamaji Kazuhiro as Aramaki Daisuke, Yasumoto Hiroki as Batou, Nakamura Yuuichi as Togusa, Gotou Kousuke as Ishikawa, Nara Toru as Saito, Ooi Maria as the operator, and Kaneda Tomoko as Fuchikoma.
The S.H.Figuarts Motoko Kusanagi figure is faithfully designed to match her appearance in the new anime. Its articulated structure emphasizes flexibility and dynamic posing, allowing for a wide range of action displays. The set includes multiple interchangeable expression parts and optional accessories to recreate signature scenes.
