The immersive volleyball experience event Haikyu!! On the Court is currently running at Belsalle Roppongi in Tokyo from August 7 to September 13, 2026. The event lets fans step onto the same court as their favorite characters and physically try out the plays that define the anime.
Among the visitors were RAN and EIKI from the BMSG dance and vocal group MAZZEL. The duo explored the three main areas of the event, which focus on the core volleyball actions of “fly,” “hit,” and “connect.”
Fly, Hit, Connect: The Core Experiences
Fly: Aiming for the Highest Reach Point
In the “Fly” area, the pair took on the Aim! Highest Reach Point Challenge!!, where they jumped against the actual net height and the characters’ astonishing reach numbers. RAN declared he would surpass Hinata’s 333 cm, and delivered a solid 286 cm jump. EIKI recorded 283 cm, and the two exchanged praise for their efforts.
EIKI was visibly impressed by the physical demands of the sport. “I only jumped twice and I’m already exhausted,” he said. “It’s hard to believe the characters jump that many times during a match.”
Hit: The Synchro Court
Next, they moved to the “Hit” area, where the Synchro Court recreated signature combinations like Hinata and Kageyama’s “minus tempo” quick attack. The sheer speed of the ball passing right in front of them left RAN wide-eyed. “It’s faster than I imagined—there’s no way to stop that,” he said.
Connect: The Gachi Receive Battle
In the “Connect” area, they faced powerful serves from some of the series’ best servers, including Oikawa Tooru, Miya Atsumu, and Ushijima Wakatoshi. The relentless pace drew shouts of “Too fast, impossible!” and “Yamaguchi’s jump floater moves too much!” from the duo, but they kept trying.
RAN managed to successfully receive one of Ushijima’s fierce serves, while EIKI came close on several attempts. After four tries, they achieved three successful receives, earning the “second-year level” rating—a feat accomplished by only 3% of participants. EIKI was so impressed that he jokingly begged the staff, “Manager, please let RAN start playing volleyball from today!”
Goods Area and Key Visual Excitement
After the physical challenges, the pair explored the goods area on the first floor. RAN said his favorite items were the animal-themed goods, adding, “They’re so cute I wish they could step right out into the real world.” EIKI, meanwhile, was drawn to the acrylic stand featuring the event’s exclusive key visual. When they spotted a large version of the same key visual, EIKI was thrilled: “The key visual is full of motion, and it captures the same moment from both Hinata’s and Kageyama’s perspectives. As a fan, I’m really excited to see such a rare piece.”
Interview Highlights: A Life Bible and Realistic Club Scenes
After the experience, the two sat down for a press interview, greeting everyone with a spirited “Onegaishimasu!” just like the characters would. EIKI, a self-proclaimed superfan, said, “Haikyu!! is my life bible. This event lets you feel like the characters are welcoming you, and you can try the very plays they do—it’s a wonderful space.” RAN, who admitted he hasn’t followed the series as closely, said, “Through the exhibits and hands-on activities, I really felt the story’s appeal and the characters’ incredible abilities.”
EIKI, a former high school baseball player, was asked if the club scenes resonated with him. He cited the moment when the non-regular upperclassmen, like Sugawara Koushi and Ennoshita Chikara, support the first-year regulars from behind. “That scene shows the reassurance and the big presence of the seniors, regardless of grade. It’s a very realistic depiction of high school club activities,” he said.
The Highest Reach Challenge: A Humbling Defeat
When asked about their results in the highest reach challenge, both looked a bit sheepish. RAN said, “I managed about 287 cm, but in my head I felt like I was flying 400 cm.” EIKI quickly defended him: “He was jumping so high! Seriously, he was flying!”
RAN continued, “I realized I was way lower than I thought. I’d heard that the characters’ reach numbers are actually achievable by real professional and high school players, so it really made me appreciate how amazing the athletes in Haikyu!! are.” EIKI nodded vigorously in agreement.
When asked who they faced in the challenge, RAN answered without hesitation, “Ushijima-san (Ushijima Wakatoshi). He was too big—I couldn’t even comprehend it. But it was great.” EIKI added, “He jumps the highest, you know!”
EIKI chose to challenge Hinata, saying, “I knew Hinata is short, so I thought I could beat him. But he was way higher than I expected! For someone his height to reach 333 cm is truly amazing.”
What to Try: Recommendations from the Duo
Both RAN and EIKI had clear advice for future visitors. RAN highlighted the Synchro Court, where you can experience Hinata and Kageyama’s combination. “You can’t understand what’s happening the first time because it’s so fast. Even with a slow explanation, it’s hard to grasp. It’s amazing to see what they’re actually doing, so I hope everyone tries it.”
EIKI agreed and added, “The entrance video is so exciting that it could easily be shown in a movie theater. The sound and impact are incredible, so I want people to go through the exhibits while still feeling that excitement.”
RAN then laughed, recalling, “There were 12 characters talking, but EIKI was so hyped that I could hear his voice as a 13th member.” EIKI laughed too, saying, “I was just shouting ‘Sugoi!’ and ‘Yabai!’ the whole time.”
