The full rebroadcast of the Kimetsu no Yaiba anime series continued on August 23, 2026, with Episode 20, “Yoseatsume no Kazoku” (A Patchwork Family). Fans had high expectations, with comments like “I have to see Nagi!” and “Already episode 20? The rebroadcast is flying by.”
Based on the manga by Gotouge Koyoharu, the anime follows Kamado Tanjirou, a boy whose family is killed by demons and whose sister Nezuko is turned into a demon. He joins the Demon Slayer Corps to find a way to turn her back. The series has sold over 220 million copies of the compiled volumes. The anime is produced by ufotable, and the latest film, “Gekijouban Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Jou Hen”, is a trilogy, with the first chapter “Shouichi Akaza Sairai” released on July 18, 2025.

Tomioka Giyuu’s “Nagi” Stuns Fans
After Tanjirou finally cuts off Rui’s head, he tries to reach Nezuko but is overwhelmed by pain. Rui, however, reappears, having cut his own head intentionally. He surrounds Tanjirou with his Blood Demon Art, but just as Tanjirou thinks help has arrived, the threads are sliced apart. “You did well to hold on until I came. Leave the rest to me,” says Water Hashira Tomioka Giyuu as he makes his entrance.
Fans were thrilled: “Giyuu-san!!”, “He made it in time!”, “Finally, he’s here!” Rui uses another Blood Demon Art, but Giyuu counters with Water Breathing Eleventh Form, Nagi, which deflects all attacks. “So cool!!”, “This is the power of a Hashira”, “The entrance and Nagi are amazing”, “Giyuu-san is so strong”, “Giyuu-san is so cool!”
The Spider Sister’s Past and Murata’s Predicament
The spider sister, who had never failed before, sets out to eliminate the Demon Slayer Corps members on Mount Natagumo to make up for her failure. She had been saved by Rui on the condition that she become part of his “family,” but another spider demon dismisses it as mere play-acting. The sister tries to flee with the other spider, but fails and is scorched by the sun.
Fans commented on her backstory: “The ritual to join the family is tough”, “This episode is heavy from the morning (in a good way)”, “The escape attempt with the sister spider feels like the start of a different story.”
This time, she only gets a cut on her face. Running through the mountain, she encounters a Demon Slayer Corps member. It’s Murata, the popular rank-and-file slayer. Fans shouted: “Murata-san!”, “Murata!!”, “Even veteran Murata can’t beat the sister spider”, “Murata! Just when he reappears, he’s in big trouble!”
Murata is wrapped in the sister spider’s threads, which dissolve his clothes and then his body. She explains that he will become her meal.
Kochou Shinobu’s Terrifying “Let’s Be Friends”
“Wow, amazing. Are you shooting threads from your palm?” A woman suddenly appears behind the sister spider. “Good evening. The moon is beautiful tonight.” It’s Kochou Shinobu. The startled sister attacks, but Shinobu dances like a butterfly and says, “It seems you don’t want to be friends with me.” The sister explains she is being forced to obey. Shinobu gently says, “I’ll help you. Let’s be friends.” Then she asks, “Pretty lady, how many people have you killed?”
Fans were unsettled: “Shinobu-san is here!”, “Shinobu appearing from behind is too horror-like”, “Her smile is scary, that unique pressure.” Some called her “psycho.”
When the sister answers “five,” Shinobu says, “You don’t have to lie.” Behind Shinobu, there are many cocoons—14 in that spot alone, all victims dead. Shinobu calmly continues her questioning and tells the sister, “You must receive the correct punishment and be reborn.” She explains that she will gouge out eyes, drag out organs, and torture the sister as many times as the number of people she killed. The sister attacks, and Shinobu, deciding they can’t be friends, uses Insect Breathing, Butterfly Dance, Tawamure. “I am the only Hashira who cannot cut a demon’s head, but I am the one who created a poison that can kill demons,” she says to the already dead sister. “Oops,” she shrugs.
Fans noted: “In the manga, Shinobu’s eyes look like a dragonfly here, it’s scary”, “She says ‘let’s be friends’ but her aura says ‘absolutely not'”, “Shinobu is in extreme anger mode”, “The gentle tone makes it scarier”, “Her unnatural speech and friendship proposal are foreshadowing.”
Murata is saved by Shinobu cutting the cocoon. He is completely naked. Fans reacted: “Murata’s sexy scene!”, “Glad Murata is safe!”, “Murata-san!”, “Shinobu saw Murata naked.” Shinobu explains she killed the sister with wisteria poison, and the sister rots away.
Voice Actor Hayami Saori Comments on the Episode
The official Kimetsu no Yaiba account has been posting cast comments for each rebroadcast episode. This time, Hayami Saori, who voices Kochou Shinobu, shared her thoughts. Hayami is also known for roles like Yukinoshita Yukino in “Oregairu,” Yor Forger in “SPY×FAMILY,” and Arakawa Ayase in “Oreimo.”
She said: “As the voice of Kochou Shinobu, this episode is very memorable because we see her unfathomable nature and overwhelming strength when she smiles and says ‘It seems we can’t be friends’ during the fight with the spider sister. The Insect Breathing, Butterfly Dance, Tawamure is so fantastical and beautiful that I never tire of watching it.”
