Shinchosha has released a new line of original T-shirts inspired by the anime film Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies). Three fresh designs have been added to the collaboration series, and they are now on sale as of August 12, 2026.
Directed by Takahata Isao, known for works such as Alps no Shoujo Heidi and Haha wo Tazunete Sanzenri, Hotaru no Haka first hit theaters in 1988. Based on the novel by Nosaka Akiyuki, the film follows 14-year-old Seita and his 4-year-old sister Setsuko as they struggle to survive after losing their mother in an air raid.
The new T-shirts are part of a popular collaboration series that already includes four T-shirt designs and four sweatshirt designs. The latest additions feature watercolor illustrations taken from the film’s image boards, printed on the back. These soft, warm artworks capture the emotional landscapes of the story, giving each shirt a quiet, refined presence that resonates deeply even in the heat of August.
