The TV anime Ao no Hako Season 2 is set to premiere on October 4, 2026, and new details have arrived. Along with a dramatic main visual and promotional video, the theme song performers have been announced: aiko will provide the opening theme, while Elsewhere Kikou will handle the ending theme.
Ao no Hako is based on the manga by Miura Kouji, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) from April 2021 and concluded in July 2026. The story follows earnest characters who pour their hearts into club activities while delicately portraying the emotional shifts that come with falling in love. The first TV anime season aired from October 2024 for two consecutive cours.
Season 2 will broadcast every Sunday at 16:30 on the TBS network across 28 stations nationwide, starting October 4, 2026. The newly released main visual captures Chinatsu lying on the snow in a quiet winter scene, her eyes shining as she looks directly at the viewer.
The main PV introduces a new character, Yumeka, who brings turmoil into Daiki and Chinatsu’s lives. As the seasons change, the characters’ relationships and wavering feelings are depicted with emotional intensity.
For the theme songs, aiko performs the opening theme “Anata no Hana no Iro,” while Elsewhere Kikou delivers the ending theme “blue in.” Both tracks can be heard in the main PV.

“During my student days, school and my own room were everything. I laughed until my stomach hurt over trivial things with friends, wrote mysterious letters to my crush at night, then reread them the next day and threw them away. Those moments I still remember are precious parts of me even now as an adult. This song feels like it contains both my past and present self! It became a song that I could put into words because I’m older now. I hope this song plays in Daiki-kun and Chinatsu-senpai’s hearts as well!”
Elsewhere Kikou (Ending Theme)
“(Vo/Gt Anno So) first sang in an anime for the insert song ‘Koiiro’ in episode 24 of Ao no Hako‘s second cour. It was a blue, shining experience to be invited by music composer Oomama Takashi. I never imagined then that we would later write the ending theme for Ao no Hako as the duo Elsewhere Kikou. I still remember the leaping joy and the soft weight of that day. We created this song while cherishing the straightforward longing that Ao no Hako holds, the pain and kindness of facing things without looking away, and the unspoken wavering that also resonates within myself. I hope this music can walk alongside the broadcast from October and let listeners entrust a little of their weakness to it. Please enjoy it together with the anime.”

Original Work Information
The original manga volumes 1 through 26 are currently on sale, with volume 27 scheduled for October 2 and the final volume 28 on December 4, 2026. Novel adaptations Ao no Hako Prologue and Ao no Hako Interlude are also available. The first original art exhibition, Ao no Hako-ten, is currently touring and will be held at Nagoya Telepia Hall until September 27.
