
September 9 Officially Becomes Shingeki no Kyojin Day
September 9 has been officially recognized as “Shingeki no Kyojin Day” by the Japan Anniversary Association, and to mark the occasion, a total of 99 big news items have been unveiled—including a brand-new celebratory illustration by original creator Isayama Hajime.

Manga and Anime Legacy
Shingeki no Kyojin is a dark fantasy manga by Isayama Hajime that ran in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from 2009 to 2021. The series has surpassed 140 million copies in cumulative circulation worldwide. The TV anime began in 2013, and the final chapter, “The Final Season” Kanketsu-hen (Part 2), aired in November 2023.
The manga first began serialization on September 9, 2009, in the inaugural issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. That date has now been formally certified as “Shingeki no Kyojin Day” by the Japan Anniversary Association.

99 Big News Highlights
Among the 99 news items are the new illustration from Isayama, as well as the key visual for the opening animation of the action game “Shingeki no Kyojin 3” by Koei Tecmo Games, with animation production by MAPPA.
In addition, commemorative goods are now available at Magazine Shop, and 99 chapters of the original manga are being offered free for 99 hours on Manga Pocket. Theatrical re-releases have also been confirmed: “Shingeki no Kyojin” Zenpen ~Guren no Yumiya~ will screen on October 23, 2026, and “Shingeki no Kyojin” Kanketsu-hen THE LAST ATTACK is set for 2027. Both will be shown in SCREEN X, 4DX, and ULTRA 4DX formats. All 99 news items are listed on the official website.

Special Live Stream
To close out the day, a special live stream will air on September 9 at 21:30 JST. Cast members Kaji Yuki (Eren Yeager), Ishikawa Yui (Mikasa Ackerman), and Shimono Hiro (Connie Springer) will appear. The stream will be broadcast on the newly opened official Shingeki no Kyojin YouTube channel.
