Fans of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon are in for a wave of nostalgia. The official Sailor Moon 30th project announced on August 27 that the very first Moon Stick from 1992 is being revived as the Moon Stick -Resparkle-, a new product that faithfully respects the original design and gimmicks. A Blast from the Past
Originally serialized in Kodansha’s monthly magazine Nakayoshi starting in 1991, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon is a beloved manga by Takeuchi Naoko. The series has been translated into 17 languages and its anime adaptation has aired in over 40 countries, making it a global phenomenon. Since 2012, the franchise has been celebrating its 30th anniversary with a wide range of projects, including new animation, musicals, merchandise, and official fan clubs.
Now, the first-generation Moon Stick—a toy that many fans remember from their childhood—is making a comeback. The new version, named Moon Stick -Resparkle-, is the first release from TAMASHII NATIONS’ new brand for Sailor Moon, which focuses on “adult cosplay” and pays respect to the classic toys from the TV anime series.
The product will include a ring part, and when compared to the 1992 original, it appears almost unchanged, preserving the look and feel that fans remember.
