Kusuriya no Hitorigoto x VASARA x Kabukiza Collaboration Runs September 15 – October 31
A special collaboration between the TV anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries), the kimono rental service VASARA, and the historic Kabukiza theater will run from September 15 to October 31, 2026. The event features newly drawn illustrations of Maomao, Jinshi, Xiaolan, and Shisui in elegant kimono, along with original goods, novelty giveaways, and character panel displays.
Beloved Series Celebrates Global Success
The series has surpassed 57 million copies in circulation worldwide and its TV anime has earned acclaim for its spirited heroine, gripping mysteries, and richly atmospheric story. The anime’s third season is set to premiere on October 2, 2026, with a split two-cour broadcast, and the franchise’s first theatrical film is scheduled for release on December 11, 2026.
Exclusive Rental Plan with Acrylic Diorama
The collaboration introduces a special rental plan that includes an acrylic diorama with the Kabukiza theater as a backdrop. Every user of this plan will receive an original acrylic stand featuring the Kabukiza scenery. By collecting the stands for each character, fans can build a diorama showing the characters lined up in front of the theater. The plan is priced at 4,840 yen.
Original Goods and Purchase Options
The lineup includes can badges, acrylic keychains, muffler towels, drawstring pouches, and more. These goods are available for purchase even without using the rental plan. Online pre-orders will open on September 15 at 11:00 through the Shochiku Store “anime Froovie.”
Character Panels at VASARA Stores and Kabukiza
During the period, newly drawn character panels will be displayed at VASARA branches and Kabukiza. The VASARA Asakusa Temple store will showcase all four characters—Maomao, Jinshi, Xiaolan, and Shisui. Meanwhile, panels of Maomao and Jinshi will be installed at many other locations, including Asakusa Main, Ginza, Akihabara, Shibuya, Shinjuku Ekimae, Ikebukuro, Tachikawa, Machida, Kawagoe Ekimae, Yokohama Ekimae, Kamakura Komachi-dori, Sendai Ekimae, Nagoya Ekimae, Kyoto Ekimae, Osaka Umeda, Osaka Namba, Kanazawa Ekimae, Kurashiki Ivy Square, and Fukuoka Tenjin Nishi-dori.
Kabukiza Decorative Displays
In addition, Kabukiza’s second basement floor and fifth floor will feature wall stickers and posters using the newly drawn illustrations, letting visitors enjoy a space that blends the kimono-clad characters with the theater’s distinct atmosphere.
