The creator of Kono Oto Tomare!, Amyuu Sakura, has announced via the manga’s official X account that the series will wrap up in just three more chapters.
That countdown includes the next chapter, which is set to appear in the October 2026 issue of Jump SQ. magazine, scheduled for release on September 4.
In the announcement, Amyuu expressed deep gratitude to the readers, noting that Kono Oto Tomare! is their first serialized work. The author credited the fans’ continuous support for allowing the series to run for so long and vowed to put their full effort into drawing the remaining chapters until the conclusion.
The school music-themed manga began serialization in Jump SQ. in August 2012. Shueisha released the 34th volume on June 4, and the series has a cumulative 7.5 million copies in circulation.
The Kono Oto Tomare! – Tokise High School Koto Songs album, released in March 2017, took home an Excellence Prize at the 72nd National Arts Festival Record and was named Traditional Japanese Music Album of the Year at the 32nd Gold Disc Awards.
An anime adaptation by Platinum Vision aired for 26 episodes across two split seasons from April to December 2019. Crunchyroll streamed it with subtitles in multiple languages and also produced an English dub.
Synopsis
After all the other members of the Koto Music Club graduate, Takezou Kurata is left as the sole member and new club president. He struggles to recruit anyone, but just as he’s about to give up, the feared delinquent Chika Kudou shows up and declares he’ll join and take over as president.
Kurata is hesitant, given Kudou’s reputation, but he soon discovers a more vulnerable side to the delinquent and his mysterious ties to the club. With the help of koto prodigy Satowa Houzuki, who brings in Kudou’s friends Saneyasu Adachi, Michitaka Sakai, and Kouta Mizuhara, the club gains enough members to survive.
Houzuki then sets her sights on making the group the best koto players in the country, much to Kurata’s dismay. The mismatched group faces many challenges, but by overcoming their fears and differences, they might just achieve their dreams.
