The first teaser and super teaser visual for the upcoming animated film Pokémon: Wild Card have been revealed. The movie is scheduled to roll out worldwide starting in 2027.
This project marks the first-ever Pokémon film centered on the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which reaches its 30th anniversary in October 2026. The film is directed by Kitada Katsuhiko, known for his work on The First Slam Dunk, with character design by Hayashi Akemi, who previously worked on BANANA FISH. Animation production is handled by CloverWorks, the studio behind SPY×FAMILY and Bocchi the Rock!.

During the closing ceremony of the Pokémon World Championships 2026 (Pokémon WCS2026) held on August 31, 2026 (JST), a roughly 30-second teaser for the film was shown to attendees.

The teaser opens with a vivid yellow “Pokémon” logo, then shifts to a neon-lit night city. There, viewers catch a glimpse of Mimikyu, the disguise Pokémon, perched on a railing, as well as a Pokémon card player named Mikiya, who wears a yellow hood reminiscent of Mimikyu’s appearance.

The brief footage highlights the expressive power of hand-drawn Japanese animation. The simultaneously released super teaser visual also depicts Mikiya playing the Pokémon card game against the backdrop of a neon city, with Mimikyu standing on a bridge railing behind him.

As the first Pokémon film to take the card game as its central theme, Pokémon: Wild Card is already generating high expectations. The teaser and visual offer a promising glimpse of what’s to come.
