“Music animation project” is what this work is all about, with an impressive lineup of Vocaloid Ps contributing tracks, including ryo (supercell), kz (livetune), 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot. Director Yamashita Shingo, known for his masterful aesthetic and emotional storytelling, combined with dynamic 3D camera work and powerful action, brings to life the vibrant live stages of the dream-filled virtual space called “Tsukuyomi.” The film promises to depict the profound bonds formed between girls through “song” with breathtaking quality.
The animation production is a collaboration between Studio Colorido, celebrated for charming characters and energetic visual storytelling in films like Penguin Highway and A Whisker Away, and Studio Chromato, director Yamashita Shingo’s own studio, marking its first major project.

The newly unveiled main visual takes center stage with Kaguya holding a microphone and Iroha clutching a keyboard. In the upper left, Tsukimi Yachiyo watches over them from a rooftop, while a new character makes an appearance in the upper right. The visual perfectly captures the dazzling ambiance of the virtual world “Tsukuyomi” and Kaguya’s mischievous yet determined spirit. Her resolute declaration, “I like myself as I am,” also stands out prominently. Fans are eagerly anticipating what kind of music Kaguya and Iroha will create as they strive for a happy ending!
The full trailer, also just released, features two distinct musical segments. The first half is set to “Watashi wa, Watashi no Koto ga Suki.” (I Like Myself), a brand-new song specifically written for the film by HoneyWorks and sung by Kaguya (CV. Natsuyoshi Yuuko). This segment shows a mysterious object flying from the sky, caught in Iroha’s gaze, before plunging into a power pole via electric wires. From the vividly glowing “gaming” power pole emerges a baby Kaguya. As she grows, Kaguya declares her intention to resist being called back to the moon—the typical “bad end” of her tale—and forge her own happy ending. The scene then transitions to the dazzling virtual world of “Tsukuyomi.”
The latter half of the trailer introduces “ExOtogibanashi,” a new song penned by ryo (supercell) and the main theme of the film, performed by Tsukimi Yachiyo (CV. Hayami Saori), the manager and songstress of “Tsukuyomi.” Kaguya boldly announces her goal to become the top idol in “Tsukuyomi” as a streamer (liver). The trailer is filled with exciting live performances and dynamic action sequences. While the atmosphere is generally cheerful, a line hinting at a farewell can be heard towards the end, adding a touch of poignant mystery. Will Kaguya truly be called back to the moon? Can she achieve her dream of becoming a top idol? More updates are eagerly awaited.

Furthermore, a charming new character, FUSHI, has been announced as Tsukimi Yachiyo’s companion and guide in the virtual world “Tsukuyomi.” FUSHI is described as a fluffy sea slug, and the talented Kugimiya Rie will be lending her voice to this intriguing character. Kugimiya Rie shared her thoughts:
FUSHI Role: Kugimiya Rie
“I’m Kugimiya Rie, and I had the pleasure of portraying FUSHI. Despite FUSHI’s adorable, fluffy appearance, she has a surprisingly straightforward personality, which made her a joy to play. I sincerely hope everyone enjoys the story as a whole, paying close attention to FUSHI’s adventures within the narrative. Thank you very much!”
