The third title in the BL animation label “BALLOON Project” has been announced: a light anime adaptation of Miyata Toworu’s Aoharu Once More.
Aoharu Once More is a notable work that ranked 8th in the Emotional category of the BL Award 2026 and has also been adapted into a drama CD. The story, crafted by Miyata Toworu, a master of youth BL, revolves around “first love × reunion” and a second chance at youth. It blends the thrill of fresh adolescence with the bittersweetness of adult romance, earning support from a wide range of readers. A sequel, the “Koibito-hen” (Lovers arc), is currently serialized in from RED.
To mark the anime adaptation, the original creator Miyata Toworu offered a comment.
Miyata reflected, “Anime has been part of my daily life long before I started drawing manga professionally.” He expressed his joy, saying, “It is an honor beyond measure to see my own works and characters moving and speaking.”
He also added, “Although this is a light anime, a format slightly different from regular anime, I hope you enjoy a new Aowan!” and encouraged, “For those who are encountering Aoharu Once More for the first time, please also check out the original manga.”
How Aoharu Once More will be animated as the third work of the BALLOON Project is eagerly anticipated, and further updates are awaited.
