The second teaser visual for the currently in-production TV anime Kin to Tetsu has been unveiled.
Based on the popular manga by Katayama Ayaka, Kin to Tetsu blends dystopian science fiction with human drama in a world controlled by fungi that dominate the human brain. The series has earned high praise for exploring universal themes such as “What is freedom?” and “What is humanity?”
The manga will reach its final chapter in the October issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine, on sale September 9, with a cover and lead color feature. The final compiled volume, volume 10, is scheduled for release on October 8, as the story heads toward its climax.

The story is set in a world where humanity is completely controlled by a world government called “Amigasa.” The protagonist, Dante, is a soldier of Amigasa, yet he lives as an irregular who disrupts that controlled society. When he meets a certain girl, he becomes determined to overturn the order of this world.
The newly released second teaser visual offers a glimpse of the anime’s world. It shows the back of a boy standing against a giant enemy—this boy is the protagonist, Dante. In this world woven with white hyphae, he rises for freedom and for the world. The visual reportedly has more to it, so stay tuned for further updates.
The anime is directed by Motonaga Keitarou, known for works such as Hametsu no Oukoku and the Saikyou no Ousama, Nidome no Jinsei wa Nani wo Suru? series. He commented, “I aim to create a work that fully utilizes the appeal of the original. I hope you will look forward to the growth of Dante as the story progresses.”
Animation production is handled by Yokohama Animation Lab. With Motonaga at the helm and Yokohama Animation Lab on board, this dystopian SF anime depicting a society controlled by fungi is one to watch.
