Fans Overjoyed by Original Anime Scene in ‘Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari’ Episode 9

The ninth episode of the TV anime Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari aired on September 3, 2026. Titled “Super no Ura de Fureru Hitori,” the episode delivered a comedic misunderstanding about Sasaki’s marital status and an original anime scene that had manga fans cheering.

The series, based on the manga by Jinushi, began serialization on X in March 2022 and is currently running in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan. The first chapter has accumulated over 280,000 likes on X. It follows 45-year-old office worker Sasaki and 24-year-old supermarket employee Tayama, who bond over cigarettes at the back entrance of a supermarket. The anime, directed by Rito Suzuki and Aoi Mori, is produced by Asahi Production, with Takuya Sato as Sasaki and Shisei Hoshi as Yamada/Tayama.

The episode opens with a drinking party for the service counter team, where Chief Maezawa drops a bombshell: “That married man is something else!” He claims to have seen Sasaki with a woman and a ring on his left hand. The store manager looks worried, and social media buzzes with disbelief, though some viewers also noted Chief Maezawa’s drinking prowess.

Later, Sasaki visits the back of the supermarket but is avoided by Tayama. When he tries to apologize for his earlier behavior, Tayama stops him, saying, “If you apologize, you’ll really be the bad guy. Don’t do this—go home to your wife.” However, it’s soon revealed that Sasaki is actually single. The woman was his sister, who had playfully put an old ring on his finger. Once the misunderstanding is cleared, Yamada blushes and says, “That’s so uncool of me.”

Viewers were thrilled by Yamada’s embarrassed face, with comments like “I can’t take it!” and “She’s so cute!” They also poked fun at Sasaki’s sister, calling her “weird” for the ring prank.

Chief Maezawa, who had been the source of the rumor, is shocked to learn Sasaki is single. But it turns out Maezawa already knew that Yamada had been using the name “Tayama” to smoke with Sasaki, leading viewers to note that Maezawa was enjoying the drama while knowing the truth.

The conversation then turns to Mie Prefecture, and Yamada asks Sasaki to speak in his local dialect. His soft Mie dialect, with its distinctive “yani” ending, makes Yamada laugh, and viewers found it adorable.

The episode ends with a quiet morning scene. Sasaki mentions he enjoys smoking alone in the early morning, watching the sky change. The next morning, Yamada wakes up early to imitate him, and the two share a peaceful moment. As Yamada murmurs, “It really is nice,” the episode concludes.

This final scene is an anime original—in the manga, Sasaki is fast asleep. Fans were overjoyed, with comments like “Best anime original!” and “Thank you so much!” Additionally, the voice of the dog howling was provided by Nobuya Takahashi, who plays Suzuki.

The next episode, “Super no Ura de Hikaru Futari,” is scheduled to air on September 10, 2026.
