The Case Study of Vanitas is getting a new piece of fashion merchandise, as MAYLA unveils an ornate pair of booties inspired by the series’ protagonist. Pre-orders open on September 25, 2026 at 17:00 on the official MAYLA website.
A Steampunk-Inspired Design
Based on the manga by Mochizuki Jun, serialized in Gangan JOKER, The Case Study of Vanitas is a steampunk story set in 19th-century Paris, where humans and vampires coexist. The narrative revolves around a mysterious mechanical grimoire called the “Book of Vanitas,” which spreads curses among vampires, and the battle between curse and salvation.
The new booties are designed after Vanitas himself—a human who inherits the name and the grimoire from the “Blue Moon Vampire.” Self-proclaimed as a vampire specialist, he’s a character who often manipulates those around him to achieve his goals.
The standout feature is the large blue ribbon attached to the heel, modeled after the ribbon on Vanitas’s chest. The layered folds of the ribbon recreate the original’s elegant drape.
At the center, original metal parts evoke the “Book of Vanitas” and its gears. A translucent blue stone, reminiscent of the sapphire gem on the book, is also embedded in the design.
From the metal parts hang decorative chains inspired by the safety chain of the Book of Vanitas. The insole and packaging box are also designed to reflect the world of the series and its characters.

The booties are available for pre-order from September 25, 2026 at 17:00 until October 26, 2026 at 17:00. Price is 33,000 yen (tax included).

Note: Colors may vary slightly depending on the shooting environment and monitor settings. The chain attached to the ribbon is movable, which is part of the design.
