Overlord: A Dark Fantasy Saga
Overlord is a light novel series written by Maruyama Kugane and published by KADOKAWA. It follows a player who is transported into a virtual reality MMORPG world resembling the game he once played, taking on the form of the skeletal overlord Ainz Ooal Gown, the most powerful magic caster, as he sets out to conquer the world.
The TV anime adaptation first aired in July 2015, with subsequent seasons in 2018 (Seasons 2 and 3) and 2022 (Season 4). A two-part theatrical compilation of the first season was released in 2017, and the first fully new theatrical film, “The Movie: Overlord – The Sacred Kingdom Arc,” hit theaters in September 2024.
