Rock Band cinema staff Announces Disbandment After 21 Years

Japanese rock band cinema staff announced on Wednesday that they will disband on September 12, 2027, following a one-man final live concert at Toyasu PIT in Tokyo. The announcement was posted on the band’s official website.

Farewell timeline

According to the official statement, the band’s regular activities will come to a close after an event appearance at LIQUIDROOM on December 17. Their farewell performance is scheduled for September 2027. The decision follows discussions among the members and their staff.

The band also confirmed that OOPARTS, the music festival they have hosted annually in their hometown of Gifu since 2013, will end with its 2026 edition. The previously planned “OOPARTS 2027” has been canceled.

Band history

cinema staff originally formed in 2003 as a predecessor band by high school classmates Tsuji Tomotaka, Iida Mizuki, and Mishima Souhei in Gifu Prefecture. Drummer Kuno Youhei joined in 2006, completing the current four-member lineup. The group made its major debut under Pony Canyon in 2012.

Notable theme songs

The band is best known for performing theme songs for several major anime series, including Shingeki no Kyojin, Shingeki no Kyojin Season 3 Part 2, Shingeki no Kyojin: Kuinaki Sentaku, and Yu☆Gi☆Oh! Arc-V.
