TV anime Kore Kaite Shine has officially been greenlit for a second season. The announcement came with a celebratory comment from original creator Toyoda Minoru and a new visual featuring Azumi Ai and Pokota.
What Is Kore Kaite Shine?
Based on Toyoda Minoru’s manga serialized in Shogakukan’s Gessan, Kore Kaite Shine is a manga romance coming-of-age story. It won the Grand Prize at Manga Taisho 2023 and the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award, and has earned wide praise on social media. The story follows Azumi Ai, a first-year high school student on Izu Oujima, one of Tokyo’s islands. Azumi loves reading manga, but a certain event makes her begin to think about creating it. The series blends the joy and pain of drawing manga into a manga x high school girl youth story.
Anime Production and Cast
The TV anime is directed by Akagi Hiroaki and produced by Shin-Ei Animation. Cast unveilings began with Sekine Akira as Azumi Ai and Hayami Saori as Teshima Rei. In March, more cast members were announced, including Hidaka Noriko as Pokota and Tanezaki Atsumi as Teramura Nana. Support illustrations from many manga artists also helped build anticipation before the broadcast.
Season 1 Broadcast and Reception
When the anime began airing in July 2026, it drew reactions for its rich depiction of Izu Oujima, the lovable and lively performances of its characters, and direction that made use of manga expression. Viewers watched Azumi and her manga club friends take their first steps into the world of manga creation, and the response came from both original manga fans and a broader audience.
Season 2 Confirmed
Following that strong response, a second season has been decided. Toyoda Minoru shared a comment expressing delight at the news.

I never thought we would get a second season, so I am letting out a happy scream.
With a second season, what I am looking forward to is probably the Manga Koshien that we researched so much.
I am also excited that Ruu Garuu, who had few appearances in Season 1, will appear a lot.
And everyone and the teachers will probably move forward on their own paths little by little.
If you watched Season 1, you already know it is going to be wonderful.

New Celebration Visual
A new visual was also released to mark the second season. It shows Azumi Ai making a peace sign with her right hand, while Pokota has the character 2 on its belly. The playful image celebrates the continuation, and more news about Season 2 is awaited.
