The full rerun of the Kimetsu no Yaiba anime series entered the Mugen Train Arc on October 11, 2026, and episode 1, Enbashira Rengoku Kyoujurou, brought a fresh wave of reactions from fans. Many were ready with ‘Umu!! I’ll watch with total concentration!!’ and ‘Rengoku-saaan’, while others noted, ‘Mugen Train Arc episode 1 is an anime-original episode, right.’ The movie Gekijouban Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train opened on October 16, 2020, so six years have already passed.

Based on the manga by Gotouge Koyoharu, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows Kamado Tanjirou, a boy whose family is killed by demons. To turn his demon-turned sister Nezuko back into a human, he joins the Demon Slayer Corps and throws himself into battle with demons. The series is known for its heartbreaking human-demon stories, intense sword fights, appealing characters, and occasional comical scenes. The 23 volumes of Jump Comics published by Shueisha have surpassed 220 million copies in cumulative circulation.

Ufotable handles animation. The anime series began in April 2019 with the TV anime Kimetsu no Yaiba Kamado Tanjirou Risshi-hen. After the TV anime Kimetsu no Yaiba Hashira Geiko-hen aired from May 2024, the story continues with Gekijouban Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Jou-hen, produced as a trilogy. Chapter 1, Akaza Sairai, opened on July 18, 2025.

Umai! Umai! Umai!

Rengoku eats at a soba shop. He seems to find it so delicious that he keeps saying ‘Umai!’ A Demon Slayer Corps member visits. Rengoku recommends soba, saying, ‘The same for this young man,’ and orders another bowl for himself. While eating, the Corps member reports to Rengoku about the Mugen Train. Dangerous incidents such as a slasher and mysterious disappearances appear to be happening.

Viewers, meanwhile, were glued to the soba. Reactions included ‘Delicious-looking soba has arrived,’ ‘Stop food terrorism in the morning,’ and ‘ufo’s food quality is amazing as always.’ The animation was so good it could make mouths water.

A handsome man, an eccentric, and a generous Rengoku-san

After eating, Rengoku and the Corps member go to the station where the body of a conductor attacked by the slasher was found. There, an old woman selling bento and her granddaughter are present. The granddaughter is worried about the slasher. Rengoku appears and says, ‘I am someone searching for demons. Have you seen a demon?’ Viewers found him too direct: ‘That’s way too straight-laced lol,’ and ‘Well, Rengoku-san is normally an eccentric.’ The granddaughter even throws an anpan at him.

But when the granddaughter asks, ‘If you like, could you buy a bento?’ he shows his generosity: ‘Then I’ll take all of them!’ Online reactions included ‘He doesn’t get angry even after being hit by bread, Rengoku Kyoujurou is a gentleman,’ ‘Rengoku-san buying all the bento is so generous!!,’ ‘He’s really generous,’ and ‘Is Rengoku-san a Food Hashira? lol.’

Tomi is voiced by Inoue Kikuko

The official Kimetsu no Yaiba account publishes weekly cast comments to mark the full rerun. This time, the old bento seller Tomi is voiced by Inoue Kikuko. Her roles include Tendou Kasumi in Ranma 1/2, Macrophage in Hataraku Saibou, and in summer 2026 she drew attention as the Ningyou Tsukai in Koukaku Kidoutai THE GHOST IN THE SHELL.

She focused on the glasses worn by the grandmother and granddaughter, commenting, ‘The fact that the two wear similar round glasses is a kyun point♪.’ She continued, ‘While a terrifying slasher incident creeps closer… I would be happy if you watch over the two who bravely sell station bento! Please enjoy the rerun.’

Fuku is voiced by Minase Inori

The granddaughter Fuku is voiced by Minase Inori. She is known for Rem in Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, Nakano Itsuki in Gotoubun no Hanayome, and Tamaki Mari in Sora yori mo Tooi Basho, and is also popular as an artist.

She shared an episode from the recording: ‘I have bad eyesight, so I usually wear round glasses while recording… Fuku-chan is also a glasses girl! I still remember feeling so close to the character design that I wondered, could this be face casting?!’

Is Total Concentration Breathing all-purpose?

Rengoku entrusts the large amount of bento he bought to the Corps member and heads to the maintenance factory where the Mugen Train is. Pretending he came to deliver the freshly bought bento, he gathers information without being suspected. Some viewers laughed: ‘Rengoku-san casually telling lies is funny,’ and ‘He doesn’t look like a bento seller at all.’

Then a demon that seems to be the slasher appears! It can move at high speed. Rengoku cuts off its arm, but it is also fast at fleeing. Rengoku gives chase with Total Concentration Breathing. Viewers were surprised by his high-speed movement: ‘Total Concentration!! High-speed Rengoku-san!!,’ ‘Acceleration device?,’ and ‘Total Concentration Breathing is all-purpose.’

The demon escapes along the tracks. When it reaches the station, it attacks Fuku and Tomi. Rengoku, who has chased it, arrives as well. The demon cannot hide its shock at his speed, but Rengoku says, ‘You are… slow!’ and cuts off its head with Flame Breathing First Form: Unknowing Fire (Shiranui).

At last, to the Mugen Train…

Tomi remembered something. Long ago, she was saved by a yellow-haired man. ‘I cannot forget. That face, that haori… Twenty years ago, you saved me and Fuku’s mother,’ Tomi says. Rengoku turns and answers, ‘That must have been my father. I succeeded my father and hunt demons.’

Tomi and Fuku are stunned. Viewers were moved by the direction that overlapped Rengoku with his father: ‘The direction overlapping him with his father is too good…,’ ‘I love this direction with Rengoku Shinjuro and Kyoujurou…,’ ‘I love the part where Kyoujurou and Shinjuro overlap,’ and ‘I really love the flow from here where he overlaps with Papa-ue.’

When parting, Tomi and Fuku give Rengoku a bento and thank him. He responds, ‘I will surely tell my father about you two,’ and says, ‘Well then, take care. Let’s meet again,’ before boarding the Mugen Train as it resumes operation.

Fans screamed at the sight: ‘Nooo, don’t board it!,’ ‘Rengoku-san, you mustn’t get on the Mugen Train,’ and ‘I have nothing but a bad feeling…’ Others praised the episode: ‘The first episode of Mugen Train is really too good…,’ ‘Just from the episode of the Flame Hashira boarding the Mugen Train with a mountain of bento, they can create this much original story. The production team is amazing,’ and ‘The first episode of Mugen Train is really too good…’

‘Umai!’ Rengoku’s voice echoed inside the Mugen Train as it started moving.

After the broadcast, Hino posted, ‘I want to eat soba, anpan, and gyunabe bento, all of them~ I’m indecisive about breakfast~.’ One viewer responded, ‘Alright. I’ll have a beef bento for lunch.’

That wraps up Mugen Train Arc episode 1, Enbashira Rengoku Kyoujurou. In the next episode preview, the Hashira share their impressions of Rengoku. Everyone loves Rengoku-san! Aniki!

The full-series rerun began on April 5, just before the seventh year since the first broadcast on April 6, 2019. Episode 2, Fukai Nemuri, will of course feature Tanjirou and the others.
