Note: This article contains spoilers for Hotaru no Yomeiri Episode 2.
Episode 2 of the TV anime Hotaru no Yomeiri, titled "Tennyojima," aired on Friday, October 16, 2026. The episode drew reactions for the reappearance of Ogawa Koutarou, with viewers calling him "another troublesome handsome guy," while Satsuko’s beautiful dance and Shinpei’s growing attraction also became talking points.
Episode 2: Satsuko and Shinpei Head to Tennyojima
In Episode 1, protagonist Kirigaya Satsuko was kidnapped by someone and faced a life-threatening crisis. To survive, she proposed marriage to the assassin Gotou Shinpei. Shinpei took her words to heart and tried to protect her, but his way of expressing love was far from normal. The intense character of this "love-too-heavy assassin" became a major topic.

In Episode 2, the two arrive at Tennyojima, an island cut off from the outside world. While evading pursuers and moving around the island, Satsuko is confronted with a reality vastly different from the world she had known. Behind the island’s glittering scenery, violence and desire swirl, making it anything but a safe place for her.

Satsuko’s Strength and Graceful Dance Win Praise
What stood out amid the danger was Satsuko’s inner strength. Though frail and raised with great care, she does not simply wait to be rescued after being taken to an unknown land and put in harm’s way. She calmly assesses her situation, relies on Shinpei’s help when needed, and searches for a way to return alive.

On social media, viewers praised her resilience: "Satsuko is too cool," "I love Satsuko’s strength," and "Satsuko’s strength of will is wonderful."

Her beautiful dance also caught attention, with comments such as "Too beautiful…," "This is why Shinpei would fall for her," and "The fantastical animation is the best." In the episode, her elegant dancing appeared to draw Shinpei even closer, and the growing distance between the two was depicted.

Ogawa Koutarou Returns in a Battered State
However, Shinpei is not the only man who cares for Satsuko. At the end of Episode 2, her childhood friend and bodyguard Ogawa Koutarou reappears. Having failed to protect Satsuko, he has been punished and appears painfully battered and half-naked. Even so, Koutarou strongly declares, "I will definitely bring Satsuko-sama back." Expectations are high for his future role and his relationship with Satsuko.

Fans reacted to Koutarou online with remarks including "Another troublesome handsome guy came," "A troublesome handsome guy has arrived," "Koutarou also seems heavy," "I can’t help hoping for a Koutarou route," and "I’m Team Koutarou."
